Zeta, a synthoid robot, was designed by the government to infiltrate enemy operations and destroy chosen criminal marks. After learning that one of his targets was actually innocent, Zeta rejected his programming and fled his controllers. Using holographic projections he was able to disguise himself as a human- but the NSA (National Security Agency) was always one step behind him, so he was forced to keep running.

After gaining help from Batman and Max Gibson in his first television appearance (on Batman Beyond), Zeta moved on to Spring City where he met up with a runaway named Rosalie Rowen. Zeta helped her escape from a gang of boys and, after some hesitation, she helped him elude a troupe of NSA agents. Realizing that they made a pretty good team they decided to stick together, Ro assisting Zeta in his search for Dr. Selig (his creator) and Zeta providing the affection and respect that Ro has always longed for.

Before opting for a life of peace, Zeta was equipped with an amazing amount of weaponry. Now he has relatively few weapons, such as saws that emerge from his wrists and a gun that surfaces from his forearm. He's very careful in how he uses these weapons- they usually come into play only as a last resort. He also possesses technology that allows for self-repairs to be made if he is damaged in battle and a limitless cred card that soothes Ro's shop-a-holic nature.

In Season 2, Zeta has had a lot of new experiences- not all of them good. He's been dismantled by a group of cyber-punks, had his brain almost completely erased by the NSA, been made aware of a suspicious chip inside his head and a dozen other things. But perhaps the most profound moment for Zeta this season was hearing from Dr. Selig's own mouth that the chip in his head allows him to think and choose for himself- in other words, the chip is the embodiment of Zeta's free will and proof of his innocense. However, right after this secret was brought to light, Dr. Selig was blown out of the sky while trying to escape a dangerous situation. Now, none of us really believe that Selig's dead but until they find him Zee's reputation as a terrorist will continue to grow. We need to see what happens in Season 3- keep writing letters, people! :)
