[TZP DICTIONARY]

This is sort of a dictionary to the world of The Zeta Project. It's far from complete- I plan to add every bit of consequential data to this list that I can find. My original idea for this page started out as a 'TZP Bible' for fanfic writers who needed a quick reference- but hopefully it will also be helpful to newbies who need a bit of backstory. I'll be adding to this page whenever I have a bit of extra time, trying to make as complete a TZP guide as possible.

A

The Accomplice: The title that was given to Ro by the NSA after she helped Zeta escape them.

B

Bennet, Agent James: Bennet is the commanding officer of the NSA squadron assigned to capture Zeta. While Bennet's driving force began as a dedicated show of patriotism, it's now clear that his pride and stubborn nature play equally big roles in his hunt for the robot. Catching the synthoid will make him a national hero and a symbol for anti-terrorism, not to mention guarantee him a promotion to some prestigious ranking in the NSA. The only things that seem to be stopping him are his bull-headed ways, vicious temper, and a team that is somewhat less than 'great.' (See Character Profiles for more information).

Buenaventura, Bucky: Bucky is a twelve year-old genius who, to stifle his boredom, follows Ro and Zee's exploits and occasionally lends them a helping hand (although, there's usually something he wants in return). Bucky is a bit snide, beyond sarcastic, and has no patience- but his skills in technology outweigh his faults and he usually ends up being quite helpful in the long run. (See Character Profiles for more information).

C

Cyber-cafe: A business that sells beverages (and more often than not, food) while also providing its customers with access to various items of computer technology; Ground Wire is classified as a cyber-cafe.

D

DeFlores, Roland: A wealthy international arms dealer who was chosen for assassination by the NSA; he was rescued from IU7 by Zeta but lost his arms empire when his compound and warehouses were destroyed in the fight.

DeFlores, Dominique: Roland DeFlores' daughter; Zeta disguised himself using her identity to get past the semi-smitten guards at the San Pilago compound.

E

F

G

Gotham City: A densely populated, urban metropolis famous for its guardians (Batman & company) and its vast array of strange criminals. Zeta was first introduced to audiences in this city by way of the Batman Beyond episode, "Zeta"; Zee and Ro also made two appearances here in later episodes of Batman Beyond and TZP, entitled "Countdown" and "Shadows".

Ground Wire: A chain of cyber-cafes found around the country. Their motto is 'One In Every Town.' Ro and Zeta frequent these hangouts to gain Internet access (and 'refresh').

H

I

Infiltration Unit: A series of robots commissioned by the government for covert missions; they are designed for assimilation & assassination within terrorist groups that threaten national security. The IU line continues to improve with newer robots, better holographic technology, and a growing arsenal of weapons. Both Zeta and IU7 are part of this project.

Infiltration Unit 7: A robot sent by the government to assassinate Roland DeFlores, a dangerous arms dealer. His memory was damaged during a fight with Zeta and, upon rebooting, Zeta became his new target; his actions are now entirely focused on finding and destroying the other robot. (See Character Profiles for more information).

IU7: A shortened version of Infiltration Unit 7.

L

Lee, Agent Marcia: Marcia Lee is an agent with the NSA and West's partner. She is a dedicated and capable operative, but her belief that Zeta is truly innocent often puts her at odds with her commanding officer, Agent Bennet. Besides having to deal with her conflicting feelings of instinct vs. duty, she also has a full-time job keeping West out of trouble. In short, Lee is an all-around ace and generally upstanding citizen. (See Character Profiles for more information).

M

N

NSA: The NSA, or National Security Agency, is a federal bureau dedicated to the protection of the United States and its citizens. In The Zeta Project, the NSA is tracking the synthoid because they believe he has been reprogrammed by terrorists and is a threat to national safety.

O

P

Q

R

Refresh: Short for 'refreshment,' refresh is a term used by Ground Wire patrons when they order beverages. Refresh may also be a play-on-words as it is interchangeable with 'reload' when talking about 'Net functions.

Rowen, Ro: Rosalie 'Ro' Rowen is the fifteen year-old runaway who befriends Zeta. Ro is cynical, street-smart, and quite aloof- she possesses the common sense that Zeta still seems to lack. Dubbed the 'Accomplice' by the NSA, Ro is Zee's companion on his mission to find Dr. Selig. Although she is very loyal to the robot and his quest, she is also hoping to locate her long-lost family on the way. (See Character Profiles for more information).

S

San Pilago: The tropical island where Roland DeFlores and his daughter, Dominique, live; it houses a heavily-guarded compound, a store of weapons, and a large shipping area.

Smith, Zee: Zee is the persona that Zeta has taken while traveling with Ro. It was actually Ro who helped determine what Zeta's appearance would look like- she also shortened his name to 'Zee' because: "Zeta's just too weird." Zee is tall, black-haired and blue-eyed, and is estimated to be in his early twenties. Although Zeta's programming has extensive stores of knowledge, his naivte shows through in the guise of Zee. (See Character Profiles for more information).

Sorben Institute: The research center where Bucky lives, formerly headed by Dr. Tannor.

Spacies: A group of people who oppose the government's regulation of space through expensive travel fees; they believe that space travel should be free to everyone and use the motto: "Don't hog the stars!" The Spacies are basically neo-hippies; they live in a large commune where peace, harmony, and freedom reign supreme and they seem to be quite fond of bellbottoms, neon colors, and yoga. Also, the word 'Spacies' is probably a quip on the 'Moonies,' a well-known cult.

Spring City: A city in Maryland where Ro lived in a state-run girl's home; also, the location where Zee and Ro first met.

W

West, Agent Orin: Orin West is Agent Lee's partner- and the butt-end of almost every joke in his squadron. West is an energetic young man who wants nothing more than a shining moment of triumph- unfortunately, his over-exhuberance usually leads him into clumsy mistakes and botched missions. His ill-thought-out actions make him a target for Bennet's anger- but luckily, his partner seems to like him and usually deflects some of the jabs. (See Character Profiles for more information).

Z

Zeta: Zeta, a.k.a. Infiltration Unit Zeta, is a synthoid robot on the run from the government- particularly the NSA. He has gone against his programming to kill on command and is seeking freedom of will from the government- however, this reversal of original instruction has led the NSA to believe he has been compromised by terrorist technology. The only person who seems capable of determining Zeta's guilt or innocense is the creator of the IU line, Dr. Selig, whom the synthoid is desperately trying to find. (See Character Profiles for more information).
